Harry and Eliza took over Lorne House from Eliza’s parents, Bob and Liz, in January 2026, after working at the house for several years. A personal welcome and useful local knowledge remain at the heart of your stay.

Comfortable, well placed to get to Bath & Cotswolds.
The breakfast was delicious & plentiful.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Up-market B&B with interesting history, nice decor, quality beds and furnishings. Location in the pretty village of Box is compromised by being on a road that is busy during rush hours so rooms at the front could be noisy.  Our room (no. 4) was well insulated from noise by double glazing and secondary glazing, but then no ventilation. Opened the window for some fresh air and too noisy in the early morning to sleep.  Our room had a small but adequate wet room.  Breakfast in a pleasant dining room had good choices and was well prepared. Harry and the family team are friendly, helpful and efficient.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had an amazing time at Lorne House, bed was comfortable, the location was perfect, the owners super helpful, and the breakfast delicious, all for a very reasonable price.

Lots of plugs in the room, amazing on suite, great meal recommendations, good complimentary tray items, I could go on.

They also have a website that is very easy to navigate, clear about the facilities, and actually works, which can not be said for many of the hotels in the area.

We were incredibly comfortable in this wonderful B&N. A perfect home base from which to explore Bath without the need to drive into the town as a direct bus is right next to Lorne House. Our host lives in the neighboring cottage and was attentive to every need. We were welcomed at our late arrival time and made to feel at home. Beautiful room with two large comfortable beds and our teenager even had enough space away from us parents. My wife was in paradise with the bathroom, large, marble and luxuriant and stocked with every and all toiletries. Brilliant English Breakfast. The town of Box is charming and I had a lovely early morning walk through the streets and pastures. Our host let us leave our car on premises all day as we explored Bath even after check out. What can I say other than if you wanted to experience classic, perfect, English Bed and Breakfast, come to Lorne House. Fun fact, this was the childhood home of Wilbert Awdry the creator of the Thomas Train stories. We wished we could have stayed several more nights.

Aufmerksame und hilfsbereite Gastgeber, schöne Zimmer mit sehr bequemen Betten und ein großzügiges, leckeres Frühstück! Wir haben zudem den gemeinsamen Balkon und das Wohnzimmer sehr gern genutzt. Booked two nights for me, husband and baby to attend a wedding and the team were just lovely from start to finish. Lovely to meet baby Matilda too! A big  room with enough room for a travel cot.
Super comfortable super king bed, lots of lovely touches including oat milk and luxury biscuits. Lots of space to roam with a lounge and we used the kitchen for a late night dominos…!
Very baby friendly which was so appreciated especially as we are still nervous travellers with our little one. Lots of choice for breakfast too and we especially loved the fruit salad. Thank you Harry for attending to us so well. We’d love to come back!
